Honey Extraction Services | Self-Service or Full-Service

  • $40.00

Gypsy Shoals Farm honey extraction services are available from July 1st to November 10th.

Do it yourself on our honey extraction equipment, or schedule a drop off time and let us do the work for you. We operate on 4-frame electric powered honey extractors.

A $40.00 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your time slot in the honey extraction house for either self-service extraction or full-service honey extraction. This deposit will be applied to your final cost.

Option 1- Do It Yourself: Honey Extraction Equipment Rental

We require a minimum of two 10-frame honey supers per extraction order. Your supers should contain capped honey only- Pollen is ok, but no brood should be present.

For your biosecurity and ours your beehive equipment should be relatively clean, dry, and free from live bees.

Supply your own food grade buckets to put the honey in or borrow ours for a small deposit ($10.00 ea.) refunded when you bring them back.

COST TO EXTRACT YOUR OWN HONEY ON OUR EQUIPMENT

  • $2.00 per frame ($20 per honey super - 10 medium frames)
  • $3.00 per deep frame ($30 per deep super - 10 deep frames)
  • $10.00 deposit to borrow each bucket and return them or supply your own food grade buckets/lids
  • Minimum Total Charge: $50.00
  • $40.00 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your time slot in the honey house. This will be applied to your total order upon completion. If you cancel your appointment time without rescheduling, this is no-refundable because the space was reserved.

Due to the time involved, we do not offer honey straining/filtering on our DIY extraction services, but you may purchase filters from us to do it when you get home.

At this time, we are only booking one DIY honey extraction per day in order to give you ample time to get your extraction complete without feeling rushed or having to beat the clock on a per hour rental fee. Most beekeepers have full-time jobs during the day, and this allows you the flexibility to come extract your honey at any time, day or evening.

Option 2- Drop Off/Pick-Up Full-Service Honey Extraction

We require a minimum of two 10-frame honey supers per extraction order. Your supers should contain capped honey, pollen is ok, but no brood should be present.

For your biosecurity and ours your beehive equipment should be relatively clean, dry, and free from live bees.

Supply your own food grade buckets for us to put the honey in or borrow ours for a small deposit ($10.00 ea.) refunded when you bring them back.

FILTERING OPTIONS (available on Full-Service Extraction only)

Because honey filtering is a gravity-driven and slow process, we do not offer filtering for DIY extractions. However, we charge a minimal additional fee if you would like us to filter your honey on full-service extraction appointments. Our default extraction process involves honey going directly from the extractor to the pail, your honey will include bits of wax and pollen which will settle to the bottom of your pails. Some prefer it this way, some do not. If you would like, we can filter your honey using traditional pail sieves.

Filtering is by gravity and slows the process down quite a bit so we have to charge a little extra to cover the effort.

  • No filtering(included) - direct from the extractor to your pail.
  • Light filtering(add $8/pail) - filters out wax chunks and foreign matter.
  • Light + Fine filtering($10/pail) - We first coarse filter, then pass through an ultra-fine filter. This pulls out most visible pollen/wax.

**WE CANNOT PROCESS HONEY CRYSTALLIZED IN THE COMB**
